A man who stole £40,000 worth of rare coins has been jailed for two years and six months.
Joseph Ross used a ladder to get to the first floor of Cambridge Coins in Swan Road and smashed a window to break in at about 03:10 GMT on 20 February.
After searching the building, Ross threw a rucksack of coins worth £40,000 to an accomplice outside, before both men made their getaway.
The 35-year-old from Hawkins Road, Cambridge, was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday after he admitted burglary and seven counts of theft.
Ross was arrested the day after the burglary at a property in Darwin Court, Cambridge, when officers found some of the coins and casing used to display them.
Police said in the weeks leading up to the burglary, Ross also stole items including steak, salmon and chocolate worth hundreds of pounds from supermarkets.
PC Andy Smith said: "Ross showed a complete lack of regard for others and the law as he stole from shops and committed this high-value burglary.
"The burglary was devastating for the business owner and has had a long-lasting impact on them.
"I'm pleased Ross was apprehended and has now been jailed for his actions."
